The Game

Datatrotters makes learning games. Experience shows that games create engagement and increases knowledge retention. Datatrotters the Game consists of a physical part, the game board, on which you can play a series of cases available through an app. The cases cover topical questions in economics and finance. You can already play and predict when the sales of electric vehicles will reach 20% in Europe. Several new cases are under development this year!

A PROVEN LEARNING METHOD

The game is based on a learning method inspired by the basic pillars of analysis: Comparison, Trend, Relationship and Model. These pillars support analysis of extensive datasets related to a specific subject matter. Models help structure the reasoning, get a new perspective on the subject and bring in proven causalities. The method supports a limitless number of case studies that learners can play on the same board.

The impact of this learning method has been scrutinised by academic research, which showed significant improvement in results among students.

CONCRETE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

DATA SKILLS AND STRATEGIC THINKING

Being exposed to many datasets, participants will also develop their understanding for data, their data analysis and visualization skills. They will also sharpen their strategic and critical thinking skills solving problems in a structured way.

ECONOMY AND FINANCE KNOWLEDGE

Participants will increase their knowledge within the topics they play. For example, how is the market for electric vehicles developing? How to evaluate climate risk in an investment portfolio? Which trading partner UK should prioritize after Brexit?

CHARACTERISTICS

It is an hybrid game requiring both the content of the game box and two mobile phones or tablets.

4 to 6 learners are grouped in two teams playing against each other.

A simple game session lasts about 1,5 to 2 hours.
